    We are currently looking for a high energy individual as a Senior Accountant for Global family of companies corporate finance team.

     

    Job Summary:

     

    As a Senior Accountant, you will work closely with Controller and CFO, finance and other stakeholders to provide daily oversight for various Mutual Fund and Registered Education Savings Plan products.

    The position requires prior corporate accounting experience in addition to strong accounting skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast paced, time sensitive environment with competing deadlines.

     

    To be successful, you will be self-motivated and take initiative improving on all aspects of the role. You will also be consistent, accurate in your delivery and reliable while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

     

    Main responsibilities will be as follows:

     

    • Completion of accurate and timely monthly corporate accounting close cycles
    • Preparation of IFRS financial statements and working papers for Global companies, including notes to financial statements
    • Reconciliation of balance sheet and income statement accounts
    • Ensures tax compliance, filings and payments are completed accurately and timely
    • Ensures all regulatory filings are completed accurately and timely and also responsible for managing regulatory deliverables
    • Supports and acts as main contact for annual audits and communication with external auditors including provision of all audit support and working papers
    • Development, monitoring, and reporting on operational budgets and forecasts
    • Review, development and implementation of all accounting processes and implementation of internal controls
    • Actively participates, provides input to finance and also other company wide projects
    • Ensures company controls, policies and procedures are rigorously followed with a low risk tolerance
    • Stay up-to-date on developments in the accounting field
    • Proactively identifies and implements system, process and control improvements
    • Collaborates with other departments to ensure the communication with finance is flawless
    • Act as a main contact point with external service provider and portfolio managers and improve processes with them;
    • Review and improve current processes and controls
    • Monitor compliance with various contractual agreements;
    • Prepare Ad hoc reports as needed;
    • Other duties, as required


    Requirements:

     

    • Post-Secondary Education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Economics;
    • CPA, CMA or CGA required
    • 3 to 5 years of experience
    • Experience in wealth and asset management industry
    • Understanding of investment funds
    • Experience in public accounting
    • Experience in management accounting and controls environment
    • Experience in monthly or quarterly accounting cycles
    • Experience in financial statements and financial reporting
    • Experience working in project teams or leading projects
    • Great attention to detail
    • Great communication and collaboration skills
    • Risk adverse, control mentalityStrong communication skills both verbal and written;
    • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Great Plains, Quickbooks
